Configuring The Caching Proxy

Interwrx is proud to begin testing of a Squid proxy cache server to provide an even faster more consistent web surfing experience to our customers.

Configuring the cache.

If you are using Internet explorer, open it and find the Tools menu on the top bar. From that menu select Internet Options... You should then see a screen similar to the following.

From this screen click on the Connections Tab on the top. This will produce a screen similar to the following.

Your next step will be to click the button near the bottom of the screen that says LAN Settings... Doing so should produce a pop up window like the one below.

Using the following example above fill in the box that says Address with the information shown in the picture above. Next check the box next to Use automatic configuration script.

To complete the proxy setup Click on OK until you are back to your browser screen. If all went well you should now be setup to use our caching proxy server.

Netscape Users

Netscape users can find the Automatic Configuration script option under Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Proxies, Automatic proxy configuration URL: In the case of Netscape, Internet Explorer and Mozilla and many other browsers use the following URL for the Auto Proxy Configuration line.

http://proxy.interwrx.com

Note: The above URL is for the proxy configuration only. It is not meant to be entered in the address bar of your browser.
